The reason why Carlos Hathcock was such a great and effective sniper is because he truly believed in what he was doing and it was something that he loved. He was a true patriot from the start of his life and believed in serving his country and saving the lives of his fellow Marines by what he did. His attitude towards sniping is what made him a great sniper aside from the other reasons. He knew he was the best there was at the time without a doubt on mind. Sniping was a part of him. When Carlos was sniping he became completely involved with it, he actually became part of the environment and was always one hundred percent focused on the shot he was about to take. He knew exactly what he was doing and why. That is what separated Carlos from other snipers. Carlos will always remain a true legend to those in the Military, more specifically the Marine Corps and to past, present, and future snipers. He is remembered as one of the best snipers in history, a true patriot and gentleman and a person that people aspire to be more like. Rest in Peace Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Norman Hathcock, you will never be forgotten and will always be one of my biggest motivators in life.

About

"The day I set my flag down, it'll be over my body or over a nation I believe in."

"Somewhere a True Believer is training to kill you. He is training with minimal food or water, in austere conditions, training day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon and he made his web gear. He doesn't worry about what workout to do his ruck weighs what it weighs, his runs end when the enemy stops chasing him. This True Believer is not concerned about 'how hard it is;' he knows either he wins or dies. He doesn't go home at 17:00, he is home.
He knows only The Cause."
